PlayStation Plus Premium and PlayStation Plus Extra, the two highest tiers of Sony’s subscription service on PS4 and PS5, provide players with access to a vast catalog of games.

Many great PS4 and PS5 games are available to Extra subscribers, while those with a Premium subscription can also access additional games from the PlayStation VR2, PS1, and PS2 game libraries.

Each month, this game catalog changes, cycling in the new and removing others. This month, lots of new games are coming to the subscription service.

Cyberpunk 2077 kicked things off when Sony added it to the service on July 9, while the majority of games are hitting the service today, June 15.

The PS5 console release of the PC game Abiotic Factor will also be immediately added to the subscription service when it launches on July 22.

With so many new games added this month, it can be difficult to decide which ones to play.

To help, I’m ranking July 2025’s PS Plus Premium and Extra additions from worst to best so you can make a more informed decision on what to check out first.

    Bluey: The Videogame

    Available on PS4 and PS5

It’s no surprise that Bluey: The Videogame is the lowest-ranked game of mine this month, as it won’t be that appealing or enjoyable to a vast majority of PS Plus subscribers.

It’s a fairly straightforward adventure game where players can walk around different locations from the TV show and complete simple minigames or puzzles.

It’s nothing elaborate or grand, and is targeted at the same very young audience as the show.

If you want to install something on your PS4 or PS5 for your kid to play, there’s some potential appeal here, but for everyone else, there’s really no reason to download.

    Tropico 6

    Available on PS4 and PS5

Tropico is a long-running series of country management games where players build up a self-described “banana republic” nation from scratch.

Its brand of political satire feels a little dated and off-putting in 2025, and management games like these feel a lot better to play on PC than they do on a console.

If you want to play a city builder on PS Plus, I’d recommend Cities: Skylines over Tropico 6, even though it doesn’t have a native PS5 version.

    Planet Zoo: Console Edition

    Available on PS5

Another alternative for fans of management games would be Planet Zoo: Console Edition.

Frontier Developments is one of the premier studios in that space, and this is their latest zoo management game for those who prefer regular animals to dinosaurs.

While a game like this is best played on a PC, there aren’t many zoo management games available on PlayStation consoles. As such, it’s a solid addition to the PS Plus Extra catalog.

    New World: Aeternum

    Available on PS5

New World is an Amazon-developed and published MMO, while Aeternum was a 2024 rework that made it more console- and single-player-friendly.

You can still feel New World: Aeternum’s MMO roots because of its quest structure and general world design, but in turn, it’s also one of the most console-friendly MMOs on the market right now.

Games like New World: Aeternum are a bit of an acquired taste, but if you’re looking for a lengthy new RPG adventure in the wake of games like Dragon Age: The Veilguard and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, then New World: Aeternum is worth checking out.

Available to PS Plus Premium subscribers on PS4 and PS5

July’s addition to PS Plus Premium’s classics catalog includes two classic Twisted Metal games from the original PlayStation.

I’ve grouped them together here because Twisted Metal 3 and Twisted Metal 4 are fairly similar vehicle combat games where players chaotically fight each other with different vehicles tied to an eclectic cast of characters.

While the PS2 game Twisted Metal: Black feels better to play than these PS1 games, any game in this series can offer up a good time.

It’s also fitting that these games are being added this month, as the TV show based on Twisted Metal is getting a second season on July 31.

    Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

    Available on PS5

Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is one of 2024’s most under-the-radar gaming hidden gems.

It’s a narrative-driven fantasy action game where players search for a way to bring their ghost-hunting partner back to life after she is killed.

It’s an emotional, intimate game that should appeal to you if you enjoy Sony’s brand of story-focused action games like God of War or The Last of Us.

Unfortunately, it didn’t sell very well when it launched last year, but it’s great that more PS Plus Extra subscribers now have a chance to try it out.

    Abiotic Factor

Available on PS5 on July 22

Abiotic Factor is a 90s-themed survival crafting game where players fight their way through a giant underground facility, crafting helpful tools and weapons with anything they can scavenge during the journey.

It evokes classics like Half-Life in nostalgic ways, although the survival-crafting focus allows it to feel distinct from the ’90s PC games it draws inspiration from.

Abiotic Factor hit Steam Early Access last year and became a sleeper hit, but it’s finally hitting 1.0 on PC and coming to consoles on July 22.

When that happens, it will be available as part of the PS Plus Extra’s game catalog from day one on PS5.

    Risk of Rain 2

    Available on PS4 and PS5

If cooperative shooters or roguelikes are your thing, and you haven’t played Risk of Rain 2, then you need to check it out.

It’s a level-driven roguelike where players have to fight their way through hordes of alien enemies in search of a teleporter to bring them to the next level.

Along the way, players gain experience by killing enemies, becoming more powerful from that, and by finding loot in chests scattered throughout each level.

Risk of Rain 2 is considered one of the best roguelikes available today, so it’s an impressive get for PS Plus.

    Cyberpunk 2077

    Available on PS4 and PS5

The crown jewel of this month’s additions is Cyberpunk 2077. It was added to the catalog on July 9 and is expected to remain in service indefinitely. CD Projekt Red’s sci-fi RPG needs little introduction at this point.

While it was infamously buggy upon its launch in 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 has been vastly improved and is now one of the most entertaining open-world RPGs available now.

If you wrote the game off at release or never got around to playing Cyberpunk 2077, its addition to PS Plus offers a perfect excuse to check it out.

Keep in mind that the Phantom Liberty expansion isn’t available free-of-charge to PS Plus subscribers, although they can buy it at a 30% discount on the PlayStation Store until July 24.

A lighter month for PS Plus with a couple of key standouts

Key art for July's PS Plus Premium and Extra games.

    Source: Sony Interactive Entertainment

This is a solid, if underwhelming, month of additions to PS Plus Premium and Extra.

Cyberpunk 2077, Risk of Rain 2, and the day-one release of Abiotic Factor are certainly doing most of the heavy lifting. Most of this month’s other games are niche, so they’ll only appeal to certain players.

Having such a diverse set of games speaks to the strength of this game catalog, though, as niche management games like Planet Zoo can exist within the service alongside AAA monster hits like Cyberpunk 2077.
