Almost 2.5 months after dropping the first One UI 8 beta for the Galaxy S25, Samsung is expanding its Android 16 testing program to more devices. As previously announced, the company has pushed out the first One UI 8 beta firmware for the Galaxy S24, Z Fold 6, and Flip 6.
Samsung’s August 5th press release said the One UI 8 beta would expand to its 2024 flagship devices starting August 11, but the rollout is actually happening two days later.
The test firmware is live in South Korea and the UK, but it should expand to the UK and the US within the next few hours. You can use the Samsung Members app to enroll in the Android 16 beta. Slots are limited, so make sure to join the program as soon as possible.
The CYH3 firmware for the Galaxy S24 weighs around 3.2GB and, alongside the new features in One UI 8, bumps the security patch to August 2025.
Upgrading to One UI 8 beta on your Galaxy S24, Z Fold 6, or Z Flip 6 won’t touch your app data. However, if you decide to downgrade to One UI 7 after a few weeks, your device will be wiped clean.
Based on Samsung’s official timeline, older flagship Galaxy devices, like the Galaxy S23 series and Z Fold 5, will get a taste of the One UI 8 beta only in September. A leak suggests the rollout for these devices could begin on September 8. The stable build of the OS is scheduled to go live in October.
One UI 8 makes everything better
One UI 8 is not as big an update as One UI 7, which introduced a big UI overhaul. Instead, it focuses on improving the experience by building on all the new features Samsung added to its Android 15 skin. As part of this update, One UI 8 unlocks the Now Bar’s full potential by integrating it with Android 16’s Live Updates feature.
Other changes include a redesigned Quick Share for easier file sharing, enhanced display support in Samsung DeX, a revamped Reminder app, new preset routines in Modes and Routines, and more.
