    • New Perplexity app coming to all 2025 Samsung TVs
    • Owners of 2023 and 2024 Samsung TVs will get the new app later in the year
    • The app includes a 12-month Perplexity Pro subscription for free

Perplexity, the AI search engine, is coming to all 2025 Samsung TVs via a new app that includes a free 12-month Perplexity Pro subscription. And if you own a 2024 or 2023 model Samsung TV, you will also get the Perplexity AI app later this year via an OS upgrade.

If you’ve never heard of Perplexity, think of it like a version of ChatGPT that focuses more on finding answers to your questions via web searches. In fact, Perplexity describes itself as an “answer engine”. It’s designed to scour credible sources in real time to get you accurate answers.

This new app will turn your TV into more than just a screen – it could become a super-smart, go-to resource for everything you need. Once Perplexity has answered your question, it will suggest additional questions for you to ask, which makes it very easy to keep the conversation going.

“Curiosity can strike at any time. Perplexity’s mission is to serve the world’s curiosity by bridging the gap between traditional search and innovative AI-driven interfaces,” said Ryan Foutty, VP of Business at Perplexity.

“The first-of-its-kind Perplexity AI-powered app, now available only on Samsung TVs, broadens our Vision AI Platform offering for a more unique and personalized user experience,” said Dan Glassman, Senior Director & Head of New Business Development for Samsung Electronics.

    How the Perplexity app works

It’s easy to use the new Perplexity app, just find it in the Apps tab or through Samsung’s Vision AI Companion (which you access via the AI button). Once you’ve accepted the terms and conditions, you are ready to chat with the AI. You can ask for basically anything, from what to watch on Halloween to help with everyday tasks.

The app defaults to voice commands, but if that’s not your thing, then don’t worry, you can still use the onscreen keyboard or even a USB-attached keyboard to type your questions.

Sign up for breaking news, reviews, opinion, top tech deals, and more.

Your Perplexity results pop up as high-quality, easy-to-read cards specifically designed to be read on your Samsung TV.

    12-months of Pro

Samsung’s Vision AI Companion was revealed at IFA 2025 and is designed to integrate Samsung’s most advanced AI features into one seamless experience.

The 12-month Pro subscription will be available to everybody via a QR code in the app, which you can scan with your phone. The Perplexity Pro experience differs from regular Perplexity because you get access to Pro searches using either GPT-5, Claude Sonnet 4.5, or Gemini 2.5 Pro. You also get access to Research Mode for in-depth reports, and it can create images.

Visit the Samsung website to learn more about this exciting new way of interacting with your TV.
