- As this will probably be an expensive and imperfect phone, it might not be a great purchase anyway
One of the biggest questions surrounding the upcoming Samsung Galaxy tri-fold is where it will actually be available, and therefore whether you’ll be able to buy it, and we now have some new information on that front.
According to Evan Blass – a leaker with a superb track record – the Samsung Galaxy tri-fold (or the Samsung Galaxy TriFold, as one leak suggests it will be called) will probably only be sold in South Korea, China, Taiwan, Singapore, and possibly the UAE.
They don’t sound 100% sure of this, but they say that it’s “very unlikely” the Samsung Galaxy tri-fold will be sold outside these regions. That said, there’s still some hope, as an earlier leak suggested that countries like the US and the UK “may” see a launch.
Unfortunately for foldable enthusiasts — and despite recent rumors to the contrary — I think it’s very unlikely that Samsung will release its first trifold beyond Korea, the greater Chinese market (including Singapore & Taiwan), & possibly the UAE. I’d love to be wrong, though.October 26, 2025
We’re not optimistic, though, since aside from Blass usually being right about phone-related things, the Samsung Galaxy tri-fold doesn’t seem like much of a mass market proposition. It’s a totally new phone form factor (in western markets, at least), so Samsung won’t yet know whether there’s much demand for it – and given the likely very high price, there probably won’t be huge demand.
As such, it would make sense for the company to give it a quite limited launch, and if it does well enough, perhaps follow it up with a new model a year later that does ship more widely.
Better off waiting
If you were hoping to be able to buy the Samsung Galaxy tri-fold then this might be disappointing, but as Blass points out in another post, this having limited availability could be a blessing in disguise, as much like the original Samsung Galaxy Fold, it might be an unpolished and imperfect product.
So, there’s every chance you’ll be better off waiting for the second generation of the device, where Samsung will have received user feedback and will likely have made some significant improvements.
Of course, there’s no guarantee there ever will be a second-generation model, or that such a device will launch more widely than the initial Samsung Galaxy tri-fold – all of that will probably depend on how this first model performs.
And since we can’t completely rule out this first model going global, it’s still worth keeping an eye on it at launch, which leaks suggest will happen on either October 31 or November 1, so we could be just days away from seeing it.
