Windows 11’s annoying post-installation prompts are being simplified

In the latest beta version of Windows 11 (via Neowin), Microsoft has simplified the installation process and, in doing so, addressed one of the most annoying aspects of the operating system’s setup.

We’re talking about SCOOBE, which stands for “Second Chance Out-of-Box Experience” and refers to all those additional setup prompts you get at the end of the Windows 11 installation process. The idea here is to give you a “second chance” to configure various aspects of the operating system before shunting you off to the desktop proper.

The problem with SCOOBE? It’s annoying and repetitive because there are so many prompts to get through, and all of that delays you from getting into your PC and using it.

Fortunately, in the newest beta version of Windows 11, Microsoft has consolidated many of those second-chance prompts and turned SCOOBE into a single-screen experience. You’ll now see a list of toggles, one for each optional feature, as well as buttons for “Keep current settings” and “Accept and continue.”

In other words, you can now skip SCOOBE with a single click and get on with your PC in record time. This is great news for anyone who regularly resets Windows 11, which we recommend doing. Thank you, Microsoft!

Here’s what Microsoft writes about the new SCOOBE:

Some Windows Insiders in the Dev and Beta Channels will see a refreshed SCOOBE screen (Second Chance Out of Box Experience) for reviewing recommended settings on your PC. This redesigned screen is meant to be more intuitive and streamlined, allowing you to choose the recommended settings you want for your PC without having to navigate through multiple setup screens.
