Look, I’m not getting any younger. I’m 45 and none of me really works the way it used to. There was a time, back in the last century, when I could spend all day at Glastonbury without worrying about losing my hearing. Or maybe I should have been worried then? Anyway, nowadays I need to protect what’s left of my hearing, but I still want to rock out to my favorite bands. That’s where Vibe’s earplugs come in, and for just $26 this October Prime Day, you’ll want to snag them for your next concert.

Vibes earplugs don’t block all sound; that would defeat the purpose of using them at a concert. They do block up to 22 decibels, though, so they can reduce the harmful noise levels of, say, 60,000 people screaming along to Don’t Look Back in Anger to a manageable level. They do this almost invisibly, too. This image shows how little you can see them when they are actually in the ear, and it’s a lot nicer looking than those yellow and pink foam earplugs you get in bulk.

This story is part of Amazon Prime Day, CNET’s guide to everything you need to know and how to find the best deals.

The Vibes come in a neat little aluminum tube with a keychain to keep them with you and three sets of rubber plugs to fit them to your ears. I have massive ears, but the large ones fit comfortably in the canal. As soon as you put them in, you immediately feel the cessation of background noise. It’s a calming experience, and I often use them while at the store, not just at concerts.

It’s been 25 years since I last watched Oasis, and I was worried that my hearing would let me down. The Vibes earplugs made sure I could enjoy the entire concert without damaging my hearing and, more importantly, without losing any of Liam’s vocals or Noel’s guitar riffs.

If earplugs aren’t your thing, check out the latest headphone deals, especially ones with active noise cancellation.

    Why this deal matters

The world is constantly full of noise, and a good set of reusable earplugs will help preserve your hearing in the long run. And at $26 really is a small price to pay to enjoy sounds without the pain.
