The Pixel Fold was Google’s first attempt at a foldable phone. I may not have won us over during its initial release, but it’s gotten much better thanks to the software improvements released every year. So, why am I talking about this phone in 2025? Well, it’s now under $600, which makes it an alluring option for those that want a Pixel foldable experience without spending a ton of money.
When this phone first came out, Pixel fans had really high hopes that it could really change the game, taking over as the king of foldable phones in the US. And while it wasn’t a bad phone, it was very clear that this was Google’s first attempt.
Google has gone on to deliver better devices with the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and 10 Pro Fold, but the Pixel Fold still keeps getting better and better thanks to new updates, making it a device that shouldn’t be dismissed. That’s especially the case right now, with Amazon offering a steep discount on the Pixel Fold, hitting its lowest price to date at just $594.
It’s just going to keep getting better
If you’ve been thinking about buying a foldable, this might be a good choice. While the Pixel Fold is already quite good, Google has made it better over time thanks to its continued software updates. What makes the device even more alluring is that it will continue to get major software updates until 2028.
In addition to the above, the aforementioned discount makes this one easy to pick up, even if you’re on a tight budget. And since Amazon’s holiday policy is in effect right now, you will have until January 31, 2026, to return the device for a full refund.
As far as hardware goes, you’re looking at a Google Tensor G2 chip with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It has a large 7.6-inch inner display, and a smaller 5.8-inch cover display. The design looks sleek and premium, while also maintaining its own character that separates it from other phones on the market.
There’s a 4,812mAh battery that should last most people all day, with 30W wired charging and 7.5W wireless charging. There’s a triple camera setup on the rear, with a 48MP main, 10.8MP telephoto, and 10.8MP ultrawide. We really liked the image quality from the Pixel Fold.
And the software tricks it has can really enhance the images and videos that you take. For the most part, the Pixel Fold provides a pretty good overall experience that should leave most people satisfied. Again, it’s not the best foldable phone out right now, but if you’ve been thinking about buying a foldable phone that won’t hurt your wallet, it doesn’t get much better than this at this price.
