The most essential Xbox Ally accessories I personally use

The Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X handheld gaming PCs are here, and they’re rather lovely. The more powerful Xbox Ally X boasts prowess across AAA photorealistic titles, and the regular Xbox Ally is no slouch either, able to run well-optimized 3D games while crushing 2D games with ease.

Like any self-respecting PC gaming handheld, the Xbox Ally range is complemented with accessories. Whether we’re talking specifically about compatible power banks, MicroSD cards, or carry cases, here are the best Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X accessories I personally use. And frankly, these are the best accessories for practically any PC gaming handheld on the market right now, and I’ve tested that each of them is fully compatible as well with the Lenovo Legion Go, Steam Deck, and the previous ASUS ROG Ally.

    Best Xbox Ally Travel Bag

This is a fantastic bag that I’ve been using for a few years now, and this one even has some handy updates over its predecessor. Tomtoc bags and cases tend to have this uncanny “Tardis” effect where they look small and sleek on the outside, but have cavernous storage space on the inside. This Arccos Tomtoc bag has a padded insert designed to comfortably support any PC gaming handheld, even up to the larger Lenovo Legion Go 2. It has tons of storage and pockets for chargers, battery packs, and cables, and has a comfortable strap for good measure. This is A+ and one accessory I would recommend above all else.

dBrand Xbox Ally X Killswitch Travel Kit.

dBrand Xbox Ally Killswitch Travel Kit

Best protective case with a kickstand

This kit provides the Xbox Ally X with a form-fitting rubber casing along with a removable plastic front cover to protect the screen, buttons, and joysticks while traveling. It’s a far more compact way of protecting your Xbox Ally than the carrying case method. The quality rubber casing provides textured grips making it harder for the handheld to slip from your fingers during use. There are holes for all of the important areas, including the vents, buttons, and ports. It also has a kickstand on the back, so you can prop your handheld up hands-free for easy video streaming or web browsing.

UGREEN 145W Power Bank with USB-C cable.

    Best Xbox Ally Power Bank

I have two of these power banks because I love them that much. This power bank supports 145W charging, which is more than enough to rapidly fill up your Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X for an extra cycle. With 25,000 mAh, you should be able to extend your Xbox Ally X and Xbox Ally battery life by anywhere up to 4 hours, if you are using the devices’ low power modes. In Turbo Mode, it should give you roughly an extra 45 minutes to an hour, although if you’re on the go, it might be best to knock down to a lower power setting to save juice. I love this battery pack because it has an LED display reporting the current charge, and has clearly marked USB ports to show the power draw. It also fits nicely into the Tomtoc Arccos bag.

    SanDisk Extreme 1TB microSD card

    SanDisk Extreme MicroSD Card (1TB)

Best Value microSD Card for Xbox Ally

The Xbox Ally devices have a microSD card slot ensconced on the top of the device, making it an easy way to quickly expand storage capacity. While some very demanding games might be bottlenecked by the transfer speeds of MicroSD, they’re a good way to store less demanding games and 2D games. This UHS-I certified MicroSD balances performance, capacity, and price at 160MB/s transfer speeds. And while UHS-II cards are a fair bit faster, they’re also a fair bit pricier per gigabyte.

    Lexar 256GB microSD card.

Lexar 256gb Professional Gold MicroSD Card

Best Premium MicroSD Card for Xbox Ally

While you get fewer gigabytes per dollar with these UHS-II MicroSD cards, they do offer faster transfer speeds over the previous generation, maxing out at around 280MB/s. This will make your games load up in a flash, but you’re getting significantly less storage per dollar, with space for only a few games.

    iVanky 4K handheld docking station.

    IVANKY 8-in-1 Docking Station

    Best Xbox Ally Docking Station

While there is an official ASUS Xbox Ally dock, it’s not currently available, and it’s also extortionately expensive, costing $100 more than this one from IVANKY. Through the review period, I used this dock the entire time with the official ASUS charger and had no issues whatsoever. This dock sports HDMI 2.1, USB ports, 1GB Ethernet, and a 100w charge port, making it more than adequate to tackle all of your docking needs.

    Best Earbuds for Xbox Ally

If you want some travel-style gaming earbuds to go with your travel-style gaming handheld, look no further than the SteelSeries Arctis Gamebuds. These earbuds support Bluetooth connectivity with the Xbox Ally, but you can also use the USB-C dongle within the case for a more reassuring connection (although it does cover up the volume buttons if you do this, it’s not a big deal since you can always adjust audio using the on-ear buttons anyway). They have noise-cancelling, ideal for those long flights, and are among the most comfortable earbuds I’ve ever used.

The Best Xbox Ally Accessories everyone should own

If I had to suggest one of these above all others, it would be the Tomtoc Arccos case. No, I’m not sponsored by Tomtoc, but I was so impressed when I randomly picked up the Arccos case originally for my previous-gen ASUS ROG Ally, I ended up buying both a backpack and a travel rucksack from them. The company just makes seriously great products, with high-quality materials at affordable prices. The sheer amount of storage you can get on that thing is immense, as it seems to expand to your needs like magic.

Naturally, having some extra storage can’t hurt either. I have a SanDisk UHS-I MicroSD card, and I’ve found no real issues with it, although if you did want to store additional and perhaps more demanding games, you could consider the more expensive Lexar UHS-II. The Xbox Ally base model is perhaps going to be best aimed at 2D games and more heavily optimized 3D games anyway, likely not requiring a UHS-II SD card. If you did want to push your experience to the max, the Lexar UHS-II model on the Xbox Ally X might be best for you.

The IVANKY dock is also fantastic. The Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X don’t really have official accessories announced as of yet, with even strong players like JSAUX quiet on what, if any, accessories it plans to offer. The existing IVANKY dock isn’t necessarily designed for the Xbox Ally range, but I’ve been testing it all week with this dock, and haven’t had any issues whatsoever. It fits decently well in the dock, the connectivity has been flawless, and it’s also quite subtle in its design, fitting nicely into any entertainment center setup. I may change this entry, though, as more “official” docks emerge in the coming months.

If you have any further questions about good Xbox Ally accessories and the like, be sure to hit the comments, and I will answer them for you, or recommend alternatives if necessary!
