The Galaxy Tab S11 series arrives after months of speculation

Samsung’s flagship tablet line just got a major refresh — but only at the top and bottom. Today, the company announced the Galaxy Tab S11 and Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, skipping the Plus model that once fleshed out the middle of the previously three-slate lineup. And as great as the laptop-replacement Tab S10 Ultra was, its impressive successor is the thinnest such powerful device has ever been.

    Updates going beyond incredible thinness

The Edge and Galaxy Z influence can’t be missed

The Tab S11 series leans hard into performance, portability, and Samsung’s growing suite of AI tools. Both models run on MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400+ processor, paired with Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays that top out at 120Hz and 1,600 nits of peak brightness. That makes them not just Samsung’s thinnest tablets yet — at just 5.1mm for the Ultra — but also its most powerful, with notable CPU, GPU, and NPU gains over last year’s Tab S10 family.

AI is the headline feature here, and Samsung isn’t shy about it. With One UI 8, the tablets ship with the same Galaxy AI features we’ve seen trickle across the company’s phones: Writing Assist for tone tweaks, Drawing Assist for sketch cleanup, and a floating overlay that can summarize or explain on-screen content without breaking your workflow. Gemini Live also adds flair and function, letting you use the device’s camera or its entire screen to get contextual help from the model in real time.

Additional important refinements around the edges

Samsung DeX also gets welcome enhancements in the form of Extended Mode for true dual-screen setups. Pair a Tab S11 with an external monitor and you can drag apps across displays or dedicate up to four separate workspaces for different projects. It’s not hard to see Samsung pitching this as a laptop replacement for professionals who travel light.

The redesigned S Pen is another recipient of much appreciated refinements, now with a hexagonal body for better grip and a cone-shaped tip that boosts tilt sensitivity. In the release hype, Samsung’s pushing it hard alongside partner apps like Goodnotes, Clip Studio Paint, and LumaFusion. The South Korean mobile tech giant is clearly pitching the Tab S11 series as both a workhorse and a creative studio.

The 14.6-inch Tab S11 Ultra packs either 12GB or 16GB of RAM and from 256GB to 1TB of storage, with only the 1TB variant offering the full 16GB of system memory. Meanwhile, the 11-inch Tab S11 gets 12GB of RAM and storage ranging from 128GB to 512GB. Both models support microSD expansion and come with quad speakers, IP68 durability, and 45W fast charging — though the charger, as usual, is sold separately.

Prices start at $799.99 for the Tab S11 and $1,199.99 for the Tab S11 Ultra, with preorders open Sept. 4 in gray and silver finishes.

What’s missing is just as notable as what’s new: the Galaxy Tab S11+ didn’t make the cut this year. While Samsung may have decided to permanently slim down its tablet lineup, offering staggered yearly launches is just as likely.
