That one Brother laser printer everybody loves is only $70 today

Printers are generally awful. They’re a remnant of an era of computing that’s far behind us, and they’re largely unnecessary in today’s digital world. But when you need one, you need one… and if you don’t have a FedEx store nearby, you might as well have one at home. I think the best option is a cheap, rock-solid, black-and-white laser printer—and today, you can get my favorite laser printer for just $69.99. Nice.

I’ve covered this before. I bought a Brother printer basically identical to this HL-L2420DW model years ago and I love it. (The only difference I can tell is that this one’s slightly faster.) It’s dead simple, just printing black-and-white pages super fast. It’s wireless, so once you go through an admittedly tedious setup process on the one-line LCD, you never need to keep it near your actual computer.

Oh, and best of all, it uses cheap toner instead of ink. That means one cartridge will last you for an incredible amount of time—I still haven’t swapped mine out after three years of maybe 2 to 3 pages a week—and you can fill it up with a cheap generic replacement, no need to buy official ink from Brother. If you only need the occasional shipping label, boarding pass, or Dungeons & Dragons character sheet, this printer is perfect.

Normally these go for a little over $100, but today you can get a refurbished model with a 1-year warranty for $79.99 directly from Brother. And as SlickDeals forum posters discovered, you can take an extra $10 off with the coupon code NICELABEL, bringing it down to $69.99. And shipping is free, too. These are popular printers, so they tend to go very quickly when they’re on sale. Get one fast if you need it.
