The fog is rolling in across PlayStation Plus this Halloween, as Sony brings some appropriately scary games to the service’s Game Catalog on Oct. 21.
Subscribers can experience the psychological horror of the 2024 remake of Silent Hill 2 or put themselves in the middle of a slasher horror in Until Dawn. If you aren’t a fan of scary games, Sony is also adding other titles to the service that you might like.
PlayStation Plus is similar to Xbox Game Pass, offering subscribers a large and constantly expanding library of games. There are three PlayStation Plus tiers — Essential ($10 a month), Extra ($15 a month) and Premium ($18 a month) — each giving subscribers access to games. However, only Extra and Premium tier subscribers can access the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, a collection of hundreds of games subscribers can access whenever they want.

Silent Hill 2
CNET’s sister-site IGN called the Silent Hill 2 remake a “miserable experience,” but they meant that in a good way. It’s a horror game after all, so being miserable and uncomfortable is kind of the point, and this game nails that feeling on the (Pyramid) Head.
You play as James Sunderland, who arrives in the community of Silent Hill after receiving a letter from his wife. The only issue is that his wife died three years earlier. You’ll evade and fight monsters, uncover secrets and wrestle with your past in this horror game.
Until Dawn
Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: A group of teenagers finds themselves in an isolated location being chased by something in the woods. It’s a classic horror trope, and that’s the premise of Until Dawn.
A group of friends is staying in a mountain lodge where two of their friends vanished a year earlier — you wouldn’t catch me returning to a site like that, no sir. As you explore the mountain, you’ll uncover clues about what happened while being pursued by a dangerous and deadly masked man. Your choices throughout the game can influence who dies and who survives this grisly night.
