Samsung’s first trifold Galaxy has been detailed several times already, with leaked One UI 8.5 builds revealing many of its features. With the Galaxy XR headset unveiling behind it, Samsung should now be gearing up to take the wraps off its first tri-folding phone. But even if you’re ready to splurge on the device, actually getting your hands on one might not be that easy.

There have been conflicting reports about the Galaxy Z TriFold’s launch countries. Initial rumors suggested it would only release in South Korea and China, skipping the US altogether. However, newer reports suggest a limited US release could be on the cards, with the UAE also included in Samsung’s initial rollout plans.

Now, reliable leaker @evleaks believes that might not be the case, with the Galaxy Z Trifold unlikely to debut in the US. Instead, Samsung will only launch its first tri-folding phone in China, Singapore, Taiwan, and maybe the UAE. That’s in addition to its home market, South Korea.

Given Evan Blass’ reputation for accurate leaks, there’s little reason to doubt his claims.

Samsung has previously launched some of its cutting-edge devices in the Greater China market, only expanding their availability with the 2nd generation. The Galaxy Z Fold SE launched exclusively in China and South Korea a few months after the Z Fold 6’s debut in 2024.

Despite being a noticeably improved foldable, it never made it to the US. However, it ultimately paved the way for the sleeker and more refined Galaxy Z Fold 7 that followed this year.

Given that Samsung will make the trifold in limited quantities — apparently only 50,000 units — a limited launch in select countries makes sense. With a rumored price tag of $3,000, the company might even struggle to sell the 50,000 units it manufactures.

Galaxy Z Trifold might debut soon

Samsung has not officially confirmed when it will launch its first trifolding phone. But a recent report suggested the company could unveil the device at APEC 2025, which takes place on October 31–November 1 in South Korea.

Since the event will take place in South Korea after 20 years, Samsung will likely want to demonstrate its tech prowess by showcasing the Z TriFold there.
