Peloton is recalling roughly 833,000 of its original Bike Plus machines, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The reason being that the seat post can break and detach during use, with Peloton receiving three reports of breakages and two reports of injuries resulting from falls.

The affected Bike Plus units were sold between January 2020 and April 2025, and were manufactured in Taiwan from 2019 to 2022. The bikes were sold both from Peloton directly, and through third-party retailers like Dick’s Sporting Goods, eBay, and Amazon. To check whether your Bike Plus is affected, it should have the model number PL02 and serial numbers beginning with “T.” As a remedy, Peloton is offering a free redesigned seat post replacement that owners can install themselves.

“The integrity of our products and our Members’ well-being are our top priorities. We are taking this opportunity to make replacement seat posts available to all affected Bike Plus users and we encourage them to contact us to receive the redesigned seat post as soon as possible,” Marcio Oliveira, Peloton’s senior vice president of Global Hardware Operations and Product Safety, tells The Verge.

This is the second recall for Peloton bike seat posts. The first was in 2023 for the base model original Bike, and affected 2 million units with 35 reports of breakages and 13 injuries. The original Bike and Bike Plus, while similar products, feature slightly different seat post designs.

The recall comes a delicate time for Peloton. The company will announce earnings later today at 5PM ET, and this quarter’s earnings are particularly significant given it’s the first after Peloton’s ambitious hardware refresh and deep-dive into a new AI fitness coaching feature.

Update, November 6th: Peloton’s statement attribution has been updated.
