Samsung has now started mass production of the Exynos 2600 SoC, according to a new report from its home country of Korea. This was expected seeing as how the chip was deemed to be ready for its mass production journey to start at the beginning of this month.

Contrary to a recent report saying the Galaxy S26 Ultra would use the Exynos 2600, today’s news says it will be inside the base model, which is expected to be called Galaxy S26 Pro. This is reportedly scheduled to launch alongside the Galaxy S26 Edge and Galaxy S26 Ultra early next year.

The Exynos 2600 will be the first mobile chipset to be fabbed on a 2nm process. Because of this, mass production is starting a bit early in order for the company to be able to closely examine the fabrication process’ performance stabilization.

Right now the so-called “wafer input” phase has commenced, with the SoC expected to reach the next production phase between late October and early November. Thanks to the 2nm process, we should see a 12% improvement in performance even if nothing else changes, and a 25% improvement in power efficiency compared to the Exynos 2500.

While it’s unclear what the regional distribution of the Exynos 2600 will be in the Galaxy S26 Pro, today’s report says it’s likely to be powering units sold in Europe and Korea, while the rest of the world would get the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 instead.
