I’ve been waiting for NVIDIA to bring GeForce Now to India for a while now, and I was excited when the brand announced it would do so by Q1 2025. Obviously, that hasn’t materialized, and NVIDIA revealed in August that the service would go live in the country by November.
NVIDIA is now detailing that servers are being built in the country, and the GeForce Now India landing page is live, allowing interested users to register their interest ahead of the launch of the cloud gaming service. Right now, there isn’t much in the way of information other than the brand stating that the “build-out has started,” with NVIDIA also confirming that the launch itself has been pushed to early next year.
GeForce Now has a confirmed launch window in India
Cloud gaming is finally starting to build momentum in India, with Microsoft launching Xbox Cloud Gaming in the country earlier in November. However, the recent price hike means the service is far from enticing in the country, with Game Pass Ultimate now coming in at ₹1,639 ($18.25) a month.
GeForce Now is different in that it lets you stream games you already own, and considering Steam has regional pricing in India with most games priced significantly lower than other regions, NVIDIA’s service could just be the better choice for most gamers in the country — that’s the case with me, as I have hundreds of titles on Steam and Epic that I haven’t gotten around to.
How much will GeForce Now cost in India?
The only question left is how much GeForce Now will cost in the country when it launches. As a refresher, GeForce Now has a paid tier with ads with queues and a one-hour session limit, with the $9/month Performance tier unlocking powerful RTX-powered hardware and 1440p gaming and six-hour gaming sessions. The Ultimate tier costs $19 monthly and has RTX 5080-powered rigs, and lets you play games at 4K 120FPS, going up to eight hours with each session.
NVIDIA switched things up this year, with both the Performance and Ultimate tiers coming with a 100-hour monthly limit. You can buy additional hours, and there’s the option to get day passes starting at $3.99.
It will be interesting to see if NVIDIA manages to be aggressive with GeForce Now pricing in India, but I don’t see that to be the case. If not the same as the U.S., I believe it will be closer to those figures. Of course, this is just conjecture on my part, and we’ll need to wait until early next year to know what GeForce Now costs in the country. While the interminable delays are frustrating, it’s good to see that GeForce Now is inching closer to an eventual release in India.
