LG Electronics will unveil its first flagship LCD television with an RGB micro-LED backlight at CES in January. called the LG Micro RGB Evo.

LG says that by using the smaller micro LEDs, with over 1,000 dimming zones, the LCD TV offers a “significant step forward” in picture quality. The TV uses the new Dual AI Engine-based α (Alpha) 11 AI Processor Gen 3 for backlight control as well as 4K upscaling.

The company says an RGB backlight, instead of the regular blue or white backlight, enables the TV to generate more colors than ever. LG says the TV has been certified by Intertek for 100% color gamut coverage in the next-generation standard BT.2020.

The TV, whose model number is MRGB95, will feature the next version of its webOS interface, which includes enhanced personalization and integration with an AI chatbot.

Meanwhile, Samsung announced its first RGB Micro LED backlight in 2025 with the Micro RGB TV, and there will likely be many more like it at CES 2026. In comparison to other TVs, the LG’s Micro RGB with 1,000 zones seems low compared to TVs like the TCL QM8K, which has 5,000 individual zones. More zones equals potentially finer contrast control.

The LG Micro RGB evo will be available in 100-inch, 86-inch and 75-inch sizes, with pricing and availability to be confirmed. The company has not revealed any additional specifications, but more details are expected to be announced at CES.
