The Samsung Galaxy S26 range is expected to launch at the start of next year, and so, leaks being what they are, you’d expect we already know everything there is to know about Samsung’s upcoming phone.

Weirdly, we don’t — and it seems it’s because nobody can agree on exactly what will be going on with the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra’s camera (via Android Authority).

No-one can agree on which zoom lens Samsung will use

Usually, leaks for new flagship phones follow a similar pattern. In the early days, you get the more “out there” ideas, like the body being carved from a piece of moon rock. Things eventually calm down over time, and by the time we’re a few months before release, we usually have a solid idea of what to expect. Not so where the S26 Ultra is concerned, and it’s all because of a darn telephoto lens.

The latest rumor comes from notable Samsung leaker @UniverseIce, and it very clearly contains a jab at other leakers, as well as the latest whispers about what we can expect to see when the Ultra launches.

This is a direct attack on leaks that surfaced just before this tweet, which claimed the S26 Ultra would use a 12-megapixel sensor in the 3x telephoto zoom lens. Instead, IUniverseIce is insisting that the S26 Ultra will stick with a 10MP lens, but with a smaller sensor — a bit downgrade on even last year’s model, and nowhere close to the 12MP lens being reported by other leakers.

This isn’t new information, at least where UniverseIce is concerned. Instead, it’s simply UniverseIce seeking to “debunk” the latest rumors and whispers about the S26 Ultra. UniverseIce has held this particular line for some time now, and seems pretty confident that their information is correct.

Of course, we won’t know who’s right until the phone itself is launched. It’s clear this won’t be the last we hear of this particular rumor though, as the comments to UniverseIce’s tweet make it very clear that more than a few people are willing to go to bat for one side or the other in this particular conflict. With the Samsung Galaxy S26 range not due to be announced until late February, it’ll be a long wait for sure.
