Earlier in November, the popular electronics company SanDisk had recently launched a product called the SanDisk Extreme Fit USB-C Flash Drive.

This is a tiny device that fits into computers, laptops, and more compatible devices, with the intention of staying permanently connected to them.

It comes in various storage size models ranging from 64GB (with an MSRP $15.99), 128GB (with an MSRP of $21.99), 256GB (with an MSRP of $29.99), 512GB (with an MSRP of $59.99), and 1TB (with an MSRP of $117.99), and each model is equipped with a USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface capable of 400MB/s transfer speeds.

Additionally, it has a compact, space-saving design that’s resistant to accidental bumps and a sleek appearance that will subtly blend it into whatever device it’s hooked up to.

While these stats aren’t comparable to fully decked-out external SSDs, it is certainly impressive for a thumb drive of all things to have 400 MB/s transfer speeds. With those speeds, you can probably run a low-end 2D game from it.

Plus, with the 1TB model having an MSRP of $117.00 at SanDisk, it’s cheaper to upgrade your system’s storage capacity with it than replacing their internal SSD, as some of them, like the WD_BLACK SN8100, for example, cost twice (or sometimes thrice) as much to buy.

It’s also fortunate timing we get this device as newer laptops and PCs are removing microSD and SD card readers in favor of embedded solutions, which are unupgradable or encouraging users to store everything in the cloud.

All the latest news, reviews, and guides for Windows and Xbox diehards.

The SanDisk Extreme Fit USB-C Flash Drive manages to get around this growing issue thanks to its modernized engineering and “Plug and Stay” design philosophy, where you can just leave it plugged into whatever device you use for eternity as a backup SSD unit.

So, if this device piques your interest, it is currently available to purchase on Amazon and SanDisk’s official website, and will be sold at more retailers as time progresses.

    FAQ

What devices is it compatible with?

The SanDisk Extreme Fit USB-C Flash Drive is compatible with Desktop PCs (Windows 11, macOS, and iPadOS), Laptops, Tablets, and Android smartphones with USB-C ports.

Does it support encryption or password protection?

The SanDisk Extreme Fit USB-C Flash Drive supports SanDisk Memory Zone software, so you can set encryption and password protection on files stored inside.

Is it good for video-editing or gaming?

While it’s 400 MB/s read speeds can store and transfer files with blistering pace, it’s not fit for editing videos with high bitrates or running high-end AAA video games directly stored inside it.

Can it be used with USB-A ports?

It can, provided you have a USB-C to USB-A adapter. Just beware that the SanDisk Extreme Fit USB-C Flash Drive’s transfer speeds may be reduced when hooked to the aforementioned adapter.
