If you’re someone that has a lot of smart home products in their home, there’s a pretty good chance you manage it all using Google Home. Sure, you can use each product’s corresponding app, but it’s a lot easier and more convenient to keep track of everything if you’re able to go through one central hub.

This is especially true if you’re trying to be a little more creative and have a whole system that works through various automations and sensors. Naturally, you still need the brand to provide access in order to control it from Google Home, so if the manufacturer hasn’t done this, you’re usually out of luck.

    It’s finally happening

That was pretty much the case for the Nest x Yale Lock, despite it being a Google product through its Nest line. Users couldn’t control this hardware through the Home app, since support was never granted. Which, as you can imagine, is a pretty huge deal if you’re looking to have seamless control over all the smart products in your home.

The good news is that we’re now finally seeing support for the Nest x Yale Lock in the Google Home app. The change was first reported on Reddit, with 9to5Google picking up the news. This means that users will finally be able to somewhat ditch the Nest app in favor of Google’s native solution.

And while Google Home isn’t a complete solution for the Nest x Yale Lock at this time, it can pretty much handle a majority of the commands and features of the native Nest app. Many users are seeing the Nest x Yale Lock pop up in the Home app, with notifications being live, along with access to pass codes, battery life, and more.

If you own a Nest x Yale Lock, you’ll want to head into the Google Home app on Android to see whether you have access to new settings and features. The good news is that you shouldn’t have to do anything in order to see the integration, since both apps are maintained by Google.

Again, this isn’t something that appears to be consistent among users, so your experience could vary. But this is just one step to getting the Nest x Yale Lock fully integrated into Google Home, which has been a long time coming.
