It looks like Silent Hill 2 remake for Xbox is coming soon

Not gonna lie, I thought this remake of one of the greatest horror games of all time was going to be total trash — but boy was I glad to be proven 100% wrong

Xbox players that have been waiting to dive into Konami and Bloober Team’s remake of Silent Hill 2 may not have to bide their time for much longer. A store page for Silent Hill 2 is now up on Xbox and indeed, the game is actually available for purchase at the Xbox Australia webpage.

Silent Hill 2 is listed for $100 AUD, with a launch discount bringing the price down to just $50 AUD. The game also noticeably supports Xbox Play Anywhere, meaning it’s available for players across Xbox Series X|S consoles and Windows PC (via Xbox on PC) through a single purchase.

The remake of Silent Hill 2 first launched on PlayStation 5 and Windows PC (via Steam) back on Oct. 8, 2024. At the time, the game was noted to explicitly be a timed PlayStation console exclusive, meaning the absolute earliest it could possibly come to other platforms would be a year after launch.

Despite this, an Xbox version of the game still hasn’t technically been announced, but it’s now clearly a matter of when, not if the developers and publisher are choosing to make it known and available.

The team at Windows Central will be keeping an eye out, but we’d expect to see an official announcement extremely soon.

While Konami’s survival-horror franchise was dormant for years following the cancellation of Kojima Productions’ Silent Hills, the series has returned in a fairly major way.

Silent Hill 2’s remake has done well so far, garnering critical praise and selling over 2 million copies as of January 2025. Then, developer NeoBards Entertainment launched an entirely original game earlier this year with Silent Hill f.

Silent Hill f is set in 1960s Japan, and follows a teenage girl named Shimizu Hinako as she struggles to understand and survive the fog and monsters that have suddenly descended on her quiet hometown.

The game’s story and themes have been heavily praised, and it quickly supplanted Silent Hill 2 as the fastest-selling game in the franchise, with over a million copies sold just a day after the standard edition’s launch.

Looking ahead, there’s far more to be excited for, with Bloober Team returning for round two by revisiting and remaking the original Silent Hill. Little is known right now, but after how well the team handled Silent Hill 2 remake, expectations are significantly higher than they would be otherwise.

Konami is also teaming up with Annapurna Interactive to publish Silent Hill: Townfall. The game is being developed by Screen Burn Interactive, the studio formerly known as No Code that was behind Stories Untold and Observation.

While Silent Hills may never come to fruition, Hideo Kojima is taking another stab at horror with OD, a game that’s also a partnership with Xbox Game Studios. OD is bringing in horror directors like Jordan Peele (Get Out, Nope) for an episodic experience.

The first episode, titled “Knock,” is directed by Kojima himself. We don’t currently have a release date for OD, but from what has been shown so far, it’s taking a lot of inspiration from the ideas Kojima previously explored with P.T, the infamous teaser for Silent Hills.

    FAQ
