Google One’s free Fitbit Premium perk won’t last much longer

In March 2024, Google started bundling Fitbit Premium and Nest Aware — now known as Home Premium — as part of the Google One Premium for UK subscribers. The move came out of nowhere and pleasantly surprised many, especially since Google added the perks at no extra cost. Sadly, the company will take away these perks from Google One subscribers in the UK next year.

Google is mailing Google One Premium members in the UK informing them about this change (via Reddit). It notes that starting from October 1, 2026, the Premium plan will lose two perks: Home Premium and Fitbit Premium. On that day, you will also be automatically refunded for any Home Premium Advanced add-on credit, with Google’s support page noting a full refund will be granted for the most recent payment.

After October 1, 2026, current 2 TB plan holders will lose Google Home Premium entitlements. To retain your Google Home Premium benefits, you must upgrade to Google AI Pro membership.

Google One provides a prorated refund for the remaining balance on the 2 TB annual plan (and Google Home Premium Advanced add-on) to members who upgrade to the Google AI Pro offer.

The change only affects Google One Premium subscribers in the UK. Google does not bundle Fitbit Premium with Google One’s 2TB or higher storage plans in other parts of the world.

Google’s 50% AI Pro discount will ease the perk loss for some

To make up for the removal, the company is offering a 50% discount on its AI Pro plan to existing users. The change will lead to a substantial price hike for subscribers, with the annual subscription cost rising from £80 to £190 without discounts. And it will only include access to Google Home Premium’s standard plan. While the promotional 50% off will help, it is only applicable for one year.

While Google’s AI Pro Plan packs several other benefits, including deep Gemini integration across Gmail, Docs, and other Google services, the price will likely be too steep for most users to justify.

In the UK, Fitbit Premium costs £7.99 per month, but its perks are hard to justify. The subscription includes access to premium workout content, AI-powered run recommendations, Peloton workouts, personalized daily fitness suggestions, and mindfulness sessions.
