Unexpected new features are what make software updates great. One day you can wake up, and the app that you’ve been using for a year has a small new feature that introduces a new type of experience. No matter how big or small, new features are something to look forward to, especially when you know that things are constantly in motion.
While Samsung had a hard time getting its One UI 7 update, the brand could have a better handle on things with One UI 8. And if you’re lucky enough to already run the latest update from Samsung, you may want to give the Galaxy Enhance-X app a try, since the latest update brings two new and useful features, Focus Shift and Crop & Upscale.
The news comes from SamMobile, sharing the Galaxy Enhance-X app available on the Galaxy Store is bringing even more AI goodness, with new ways to enhance your photos to make them even better. As mentioned before, users will now have access to two new tools, called Focus Shift and Crop & Upscale.
Focus Shift is a tool that we’ve seen before with other phones, allowing users to shift the focus where needed after the photo has been taken. Samsung’s description states that you’ll be able to tap anywhere and bring that portion into focus while blurring everything else around it. This can be a great tool if you’re looking to add a portrait effect to your photos, enhancing the subject even more.
The Crop & Upscale tool allows users to get the best image from a cropped photo. When you crop into a photo, there’s a pretty good chance that it’s not going to look as good as the original, losing detail where it matters. Crop & Upscale will be able to up the resolution of the cropped section up to 5x, which will hopefully make things look much better than they are now.
Naturally, the results will vary from photo to photo, but it’s worth giving these new tools a shot if you’re running One UI 8. When it comes to supported phones, you’re looking at the Galaxy S25 series, along with the latest Galaxy Z foldables. With that said, we should see more phones with the One UI 8 update soon. So, you’ll just have to be patient for the time being.
