The Google Play Store provides access to some of the best games you’ll find on mobile. And with the right tools, you can even play your favorite AAA titles from other platforms on Android too. Of course, there are times that you get the itch to play older games, and well, there’s really no way to get that experience unless you’re willing to bring out those old consoles, or play through emulation.

The latter option, while popular, tends to lead to heated arguments and legal issues surrounding copyright. And we’ve seen how aggressive some companies can get when pursuing such matters. So it comes as a surprise that Eden is making its official debut on the Google Play Store, giving Android users an alternate way to enjoy their favorite Nintendo Switch titles (via Android Authority).

    Emulation will never die

The Eden Switch emulator has been around for a little while, first popping up in May on GitHub, and has gone through a number of updates over the past few months. While we’re highlighting its availability on Android, there are also versions for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

It’s unclear when this listing for Eden first popped up on the Play Store, but it’s not something that comes up when you search for “emulators” on the app store. The folks at Android Authority had a sharp eye spotting this one, and it looks like the last update made to the app was on August 19, 2025.

There’s no telling how long Eden will remain on the Play Store, as we’ve seen Nintendo go after previous Switch emulators quite aggressively. With that said, emulation is quite interesting, since it can open a whole new world of games that you’ve never even seen or heard of due to the age of the hardware.

Of course, there’s a fine line when it comes to preservation, and there’s a lot of hard work from dedicated individuals that goes into archiving games, hardware, and even accessories. This is especially important now, with so many releases coming out each year being digital only.
