In the world of gaming PCs, Acer is perhaps better known for its more budget-friendly Nitro options, while its Predator brand is overshadowed by Alienware, Razer, Omen and others. That said, with every new generation, its gaming systems get easier to recommend over the competition, and that includes its latest batch of gaming laptops and desktops announced at IFA 2025 in Berlin on Wednesday.

    Desktops

At the top of line for Predator gaming desktops is the Orion 7000. Judging by what Acer is packing into this big, black tower, there will be plenty of performance for both gaming and AI workflows:

    • Up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processor with integrated NPU
    • Paired with up to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 GPU
    • Up to 128GB of DDR5 RAM
    • You don’t have to worry about games getting increasingly large with support for up to 10TB of storage — 6TB solid-state storage with available slots for two 2TB hard drives
    • It supports Wi-Fi 7 and has plenty of ports for all your accessories, including 3.5mm audio (1 front, 3 rear with audio out), USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 (5), USB-A 2.0 (2), USB-C 3.2 Gen 2×2 (1) and Thunderbolt 4 (1)
    • Keeping it cool is Acer’s Predator CycloneX 360 liquid cooling system and several RGB LED fans

The Orion 5000 is a little smaller but still has high-performance parts.

The Predator Orion 5000 is a slightly smaller and less expensive option that should still satisfy more budget-conscious hard-core gamers.

    • Up to an Intel Core Ultra 7 265F processor
    • Up to an Nvidia RTX 5080 GPU
    • Up to 128GB of DDR5 RAM
    • Up to 6TB of storage is more than enough to store even the biggest game libraries, with 2TB of that coming in SSDs and support for up to 4TB of HDD storage
    • Wi-Fi 7 and more than enough ports for everything you need, including 3.5mm audio (1 front, 3 rear with audio out), USB-A 3.2 (3), USB-A 2.0 (4) and USB-C 3.2 (1)
    • It comes with Acer’s Predator CycloneX360 fans to help keep thermal issues under control

The Acer Nitro 70 gaming desktop is a better choice for the budget-conscious.

For the AMD crowd, the AcerNitro 70 comes with up to an AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D processor and up to Nvidia RTX 5090 GPU. The Nitro 50offers up to an AMD Ryzen 7 8700G processor and RTX 5080 GPU. The Nitro N50 N50-100 and Nitro 70 N70X3D-100 models will not be coming to North America, though.

    Laptops

The Predator Helios 18 is a massive gaming (or workstation) laptop.

At the top of Acer’s gaming laptops is the new Predator Helios 18P AI, which Acer says offers “desktop-level AI computing” in a massive 7.7-pound, 18-inch laptop.

    • Up to an Intel Core 9 Ultra 285HX processor with Intel vPro
    • Supports up to a whopping 192GB of ECC memory
    • Up to an Nvidia RTX 5090 graphics chip
    • Up to 6TB of PCIe Gen 5 SSD storage (no worrying about how large the next Call of Duty game will be)
    • It also supports Wi-Fi 7 and comes with two Thunderbolt 5 ports, three USB-A ports, HDMI 2.1 and an SD card slot
    • Aside from the RTX 5090 GPU, the star of the show is the 18-inch, 16:10 Mini LED, 3,840×2,400 4K display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1,000 nits of brightness

It arrives in North America later in 2025, and while Acer hasn’t announced pricing yet, rest assured it will cost a pretty penny.

Updated Acer Nitro V 16 gaming laptops are incoming.

The Nitro V 16 laptop, with a slightly less impressive spec sheet but a much more affordable price tag of $999, is also coming.

    • Supports up to an Intel Core 9 270H processor
    • Up to an Nvidia RTX 5070 laptop GPU

The remaining specs for the V 16 have yet to be announced, but we do know it has a 16-inch, 2,560×1,600-pixel display with a 180Hz refresh rate. The Nitro V 16S is designed to be a bit more portable, but it still packs the same Core Ultra 9 270H processor and RTX 5070 laptop GPU in a slim metal chassis that’s only 19.9 millimeters thick. That slimness will cost an extra $100 when it arrives in North America later in 2025, starting at $1,099.
