One of the things you can do to simplify your navigation around the Windows 11 user interface is to utilize touch gestures if you have a touchscreen. Touch gestures enable you to perform various actions by using your fingers to perform specific movements.
You can also perform touch gestures on your touchpad. To use touch gestures in Windows first you have to ensure you have the feature switched on. Here’s how to do that:
What to do:
- Right click on the Start menu then select Settings > Bluetooth and devices > Touch.
- In this window ensure Three and Four-finger touch gestures is switched On.
- Expand Touch screen edge gestures and ensure Swipe from the left edge of the screen and Swipe from the right edge of the screen are both switched On.

Now that you’ve switched on touch gestures. It’s time to learn the most useful gestures to navigate around Windows. Here are some to practice below.
Select an item: Tap the screen
Scroll: Place two fingers on the screen and slide horizontally or vertically.
Zoom in or out: Place two fingers on the screen and pinch in or stretch out.
Show more commands (like right clicking): Press and hold the item.
Show all open windows: Swipe with three fingers up on the screen.
Show the desktop: Swipe with three fingers down on the screen.
Switch to the last open app: Swipe with three finger to the left or right on the screen,
Open notification center: Swipe with one finger in from the right edge of the screen
See widgets: Swipe with one finger in from the left edge of the screen.
Switch desktops: Swipe with four fingers to the left or right on the screen.
