Apple TV to Offer MLS Games Without Season Pass, Report Says

Apple TV is reportedly removing the extra paywall for Major League Soccer games, according to The New York Times. Beginning in 2026, subscribers to the company’s streaming service would be able to watch MLS matches at no additional cost, and the MLS Season Pass would be shuttered.

The Leagues Cup Tournament, the MLS All-Star Game, the Michelob Ultra Campeones Cup, the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs and all regular matches (with no blackouts) will be accessible with only an Apple TV subscription. Studio programming and on-demand content will also be included. The MLS Season Pass programming package, currently priced at $15 a month or $99 for the season, will reportedly be discontinued at the end of the 2025 season.

Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The news comes on the heels of Apple TV’s move to give subscribers access to the 2025 MLS Cup playoffs, along with 200 regular-season matches, without a Season Pass subscription.

“The story on the Apple deal will be written over time, because I think we were ahead of the curve,” MLS Deputy Commissioner Gary Stevenson told The Athletic. “I like the fact that all 600 of our matches can be accessed globally by one touch of your finger. And I think over time, as the world transitions, and you’re seeing it right before your eyes right now,” he said. “We have a partner that is willing to make changes with us to better serve the consumer.”

Apple recently signed a five-year deal with Formula 1, which is set to begin in 2026. The streamer also has a deal with Major League Baseball, allowing subscribers to access Friday Night Baseball games at no additional cost.

Major League Soccer games can be viewed on the Apple TV app and online at tv.apple.com. Android users can now download the Apple TV app from Google Play on Android mobile devices to subscribe to Apple TV.
