Google’s flagship learning app now offers more features on the go.

For reference, NotebookLM on desktop and mobile offers a different feature set, though Google’s latest feature drop for the latter brings the two closer to parity.

On desktop, the AI-powered learning tool gained access to advanced features like flashcards and quizzes in September. Said features have been missing on the mobile apps since, but that’s changing now.

As highlighted by the tech giant in a new blog post, flashcards and quizzes are now making their way to the NotebookLM Android and iOS apps. The development should make learning remotely even easier.

With Flashcards, users have the option to customize the number of cards (fewer, standard, and more), alongside the level of difficulty (easy, medium, and hard). Users also have the option to specify what the topic should be and a prompt box to add notes to narrow down the AI’s focus.

Similarly, with quizzes, users have the option to customize the number of questions (fewer, standard, and more), alongside the level of difficulty (easy, medium, and hard). Here, too, users will have the option to specify what the topic should be and a prompt box to add notes to narrow down the AI’s focus. This is the same functionality as the desktop version of NotebookLM.

Elsewhere, some of the chat-based upgrades that the platform announced late in October are now also making their way to mobile. This includes a 4x larger context window, 6x longer conversation memory, and an overall 50 percent better overall chat experience.

These changes are rolling out on Android and iOS now and should be widely available across accounts over the coming week.

This comes soon after the platform confirmed that Google Sheets (as a source) support will come to free NotebookLM “very soon.”
