The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is Samsung’s most advanced book-style foldable currently available. However, that will change soon when the company unwraps its first-ever triple-folding smartphone, tentatively named the Galaxy Z TriFold.

Roughly a month ago, we learned that Samsung may consider bringing the Galaxy Z TriFold to the US. This was welcome news, as prior reports had hinted at a limited availability of the flagship. We’re now gaining more word on a potential global (and US) launch of the Galaxy Z TriFold, courtesy of a familiar source.

According to information received by SamMobile, the Galaxy Z TriFold is on schedule to launch in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as well as the US. It’s unclear if these will be the only global markets to see retail availability of the triple-folding Galaxy flagship, apart from China and South Korea.

We know a fair bit about the Galaxy Z TriFold already

The Huawei Mate XT’s unique folding mechanism

We’ve seen the company launch special variants of existing flagships exclusively in select markets before, including the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition in South Korea and the Samsung W25 in China last year.

A similar strategy was initially expected with the upcoming trifolding phone. However, based on this report and what we learned last month, it appears that Samsung wants a larger audience for its game-changing foldable. There’s also a strong chance that the foldable may not be available in large quantities, at least initially.

While the Huawei Mate XT is the only device we can compare to Samsung’s upcoming foldable, the two will differ in terms of folding mechanisms. Samsung’s offering is expected to fold inward like a book, whereas the Mate XT utilizes a combination of inward and outward folding mechanisms in the shape of the letter “Z.”

Leaks suggest Samsung may get creative with the placement of battery packs in the Galaxy Z TriFold. This may be a prerequisite, given that it’s supposed to power a 10-inch OLED screen (when unfolded) and the “For Galaxy” version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.

The foldable could be officially announced at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) event in South Korea later this month, according to reports by multiple Korean publications. Early estimates suggest Samsung will set a price tag in the $3,000 range, putting it beyond the reach of most customers.
