It’s never a bad day when a device you own gets a software update that adds awesome new features. Today, we’re talking about the Pixel Buds Pro 2, which is seeing a surprise feature that introduces a huge quality of life improvement.

The change was spotted by 9to5Google, sharing that the Pixel Buds Pro 2 can now deliver battery percentage for individual components, while also sharing that information with any Pixel device that has connected with the earbuds before.

This will be a big deal to some

In order to experience this new feature, the device will need to be updated to the latest firmware version that comes as 4.467. You’ll then want to activate the Pixel Battery widget on your compatible device. If everything works out, you should be able to see the battery life for all the separate components of the Pixel Buds Pro 2.

That means going forward, you’ll know the charge level of the case and each individual earbud. As you can imagine, this is a pretty big deal, considering that you’ll be getting more detailed information about your earbuds. Furthermore, you won’t need to always look at one device in order to get the charging status of your Pixel Buds Pro 2.

If you’ve connected the Pixel Buds Pro 2 to another Pixel device, you’ll be able to see the charge status from that device as well. The Pixel Buds 2 Pro don’t need to be continuously connected to each device to see the charging status, which is convenient. Google’s earbuds continue to get better with each new update, so make sure to get the latest firmware.

The latest update we released last week, and as mentioned before, comes as firmware version 4.467. In addition to the above, the software features Adaptive Audio, Loud Noise Protection, and hands-free control with head gestures. It’s worth trying it out, so give it a shot.
