The Kindle Scribe is getting a huge revamp, with improvements across the board that could make anyone interested. The new models are thinner, lighter, and faster than the previous version, coming in at just 5.4mm thin, while weighing only 400 grams.

Amazon states that the device is also 40% faster, and while the added speed boost probably isn’t all that necessary during reading, it’s surely a welcome change if you’re looking to jot down notes. Perhaps most important is that the new Kindle Scribe features a new 11-inch display.

    A huge change to Kindle

This display has a number of improvements that all go towards a better reading and writing experience. Amazon chose the new size in order to make writing feel more natural by having the size lineup with a standard sheet of paper. Those looking for the most premium experience will want to opt for the color version.

It delivers natural colors utilizing Colorsoft display technology, which should be easier on the eyes. Despite moving to color, Amazon shares that the new color version of the Kindle Scribe will still deliver weeks of battery life from just a single charge. Naturally, the standard models will have a little more, but going weeks without a charge at the minimum is still fantastic.

Amazon is also injecting some AI features into its new Kindles in an effort to provide new tools, so that users can be more efficient when getting things done. Nothing major here for now, with just a small boost for things like search. But by next year, Scribe users will be able to send “notes and documents from Kindle Scribe to Alexa+ and have a conversation about them.”

For the most part, this is a pretty exciting lineup for anyone that’s a Kindle fan. However, these devices are pretty pricey, with the standard model costing $499.99, and the color version costing $629.99. There will also be a more affordable version without an LED light that will cost $429.99. If you’re in the US, you can grab them later this year.
