KPop Demon Hunters Collaboration Could Come to Fortnite Soon

Netflix’s surprise hit animated movie, KPop Demon Hunters, exploded onto the scene in June, becoming the streaming service’s most-watched original movie ever. Besides breaking viewing records, the movie holds a top-three spot in daily rankings, has a successful sing-along theatrical run and has turned several songs from the original soundtrack into charting hits.

KPop Demon Hunters will break one more record: It may be the speediest crossover in Fortnite history.

Fortnite leakers Loolo and SpushFNBR claim that a KPop Demon Hunters collaboration is in the works. If their reports are accurate, we might not have to wait long to see the fictional HUNTR/X KPop idols duking it out in a battle royale. According to the leak,  Rumi, Mira and Zoey could be in the game as soon as this season, an absurdly quick turnaround for Fortnite’s art team.

KPop Demon Hunters only entered the public consciousness three months ago. If a crossover is announced within the coming weeks, I’d temper your expectations for how many skins there might be.

If, like me, you’re interested in playing as the demonic Saja Boys heartthrob Jinu, you might be out of luck. I suspect the art team will focus on the main characters Rumi, Mira and Zoey — although the Soda Pop dance could still appear.

If the rumored collaboration succeeds, it wouldn’t be out of the question for additional KPop Demon Hunters content to come out later. Fortnite developer Epic Games has collaborated with massive franchises more than once in the past — there are still waves of Star Wars skins available to this day.

A Fortnite collaboration is a significant next step for KPop Demon Hunters, but it isn’t the end of the road for HUNTR/X. Sony and Netflix are reportedly in talks to create a KPop Demon Hunters sequel.

A representative for Netflix did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
