To kick off 2025, South Korean tech giant Samsung, at CES, announced big changes coming to its big-screen portfolio. As part of the announcement, Samsung alluded to Microsoft’s Copilot AI making its way to its smart TVs and smart monitors — a development that’s actually materializing now!

The two companies just announced that they’re ready to integrate the AI assistant directly into Samsung’s 2025 big-screen lineup, building on the South Korean tech giant’s existing Samsung Vision AI.

As alluded by Microsoft, the AI assistant will not just help Samsung smart TV and monitor users discover content to watch, it will also give users answers to their questions, plan weekends for them, give them series/movie recaps, and a lot more, right from the big screen.

That’s essentially a little taste of Copilot’s functionality, but optimized for the big screen.

Microsoft and Samsung have a long history of bringing the best of technology together, from Windows and Office on Galaxy devices to Xbox Cloud Gaming on Samsung TVs. This collaboration brings that same spirit of innovation to Copilot, making your TV smarter, more personal, and more fun.

You don’t necessarily need a Microsoft account

Initial availability is limited to 2025 Samsung TV models including Micro RGB, Neo QLED, OLED, The Frame Pro, The Frame, as well as the M7, M8 and M9 Smart Monitors, with availability expected to expand to more models over time. If available to you, Copilot will appear on the Samsung Tizen OS homescreen, Samsung Daily+, and Click to Search.

Once activated and triggered via the mic icon on your remote, you’ll see Copilot’s blob-like “friendly, animated presence” on your screen. It reacts as you speak, and lip-syncs when it is giving you a reply, complete with expressions that match the tone of the conversation. It’s a subtle touch that serves as a “visible reminder that your companion is listening, thinking, and responding just for you.”

Although you don’t need a Microsoft account to access Copilot on said TVs and monitors, having one can unlock additional features like Copilot’s personalization, memory, and preferences for you. Without an account, you’ll still be able to enjoy these features:

    • Custom, spoiler-free recaps: “I want to get back into The Crown, I left off at Season 3, Episode 4. What happened up until then?”
    • Ultra-specific recommendations: “Like The Queen’s Gambit, but about cooking instead of chess, and under two hours.”
    • Group-friendly picks: “Hannah likes rom-coms, David likes sci-fi, Mark likes thrillers. What’s something we’ll all like?” Perfect for when everyone’s gathered in the living room and you want to decide together.
    • Post-watch deep dives: “Who was the voice actor for that character?” or “What else has the director done?”
    • Everyday help: “Will Saturday in Seattle be good conditions for hiking?” or “Cheer me up after a breakup.”
