After Samsung didn’t handle the One UI 7 update very well, everyone thought the surprising One UI 8 release, based on the still-unreleased Android 16 with the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7, was just some sort of redemption. However, it seems that it’s actually the start of a new update strategy.

According to the renowned tipster Ice Universe, Samsung will continue prioritizing its Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip phones when it comes to software updates. So from now on, the Galaxy foldables will launch with the latest Android version out of the box, while the Galaxy S series will receive an incremental One UI update.

On the other hand, Samsung may be prioritizing its flagship Galaxy S lineup in a way by polishing the user experience with each new software version before installing it on its S series. Although the foldables will be the first to receive the new UI designs, AI features, and software enhancements, the Galaxy S family will get a more stable and refined version of the software.
